I seriously need to stop falling in love with engagement rings - but it's so hard when looking at this Beautiful Art Deco Antique Diamond Engagement Ring. This gorgeous example was made by Birks of Canada, a well known jeweler founded in 1879 (and still in existence today) known for excellence in craftsmanship! Crafted in Platinum, this ring features Three Central Diamonds, surrounded by Pave Set Accent Diamonds, and finished with incredible hand engraving. In the center, the ring holds an Old European Cut Diamond, approximately 0.40ct in weight, of H/VVS2 quality. On the sides are Two Old European Cut Diamonds, totaling approximately 0.50ct, of similar quality. Finally, there are a total of 25 Single Cut Accent Diamonds, approximately 0.50ct total in weight, of again of similar quality. And to make the ring even more special, the ring comes with it's original, sterling silver, box! This box holds the original purchaser's monogram, which matching the inscription in the ring! The ring is a Size 5.
The ring is stamped 'PLAT', and has been tested to be Platinum. There is also an inscription, "W.M.T. to E.M.D Oct 16th, 1930. The initials EMD also match the monogram on the sterling ring box this ring comes with! I was told that this ring was sold in 1929 by the Birks-Dingwall store in Winnipeg, Canada.
The ring weighs 3.9 grams.
The center stone is 4.7mm in diameter.
The total carat weight for this ring is approximately 1.40ct.
